After speaking to Barclays Bank, Mike Pollard from DALROD made an on-the-spot decision to give £500 to Magpas.
Mr Pollard, who is the Managing Director of the DALROD depot in Cambridgeshire, explained why he made the spontaneous donation to The Emergency Medical Charity. “I was having a meeting with my Barclays Business Manager and she started talking to me about the charity. I’ve got a lot of friends who are paramedics and the conversation prompted me to give Magpas some money as soon as I could” Mr Pollard said.
Not only did Mr Pollard visit the Magpas Helimedix team to present a cheque, but the next day he sent one of his DALROD team to clear the Magpas drains – free of charge! The extremely accommodating Mr Pollard also told the Magpas Helimedix that they are always welcome to land in his garden if there’s an emergency in Warboys, where he lives
Mr Pollard said he would continue supporting Magpas in the future and encouraged other local businesses to do the same. He went on to say, “I would like to thank everyone at Magpas for taking the time to show me round the Helimedix Base. It was a real eye opener for me; I hadn’t realised exactly what was involved, how much effort went into this essential service and obviously the additional costs involved”.
