Jet Vac / Tanker Driver - Bedford, near Milton Keynes

About us:

DALROD is a fast-paced business located in Bedford near Milton Keynes, operating both reactive and pre-planned drainage services. DALROD Milton Keynes is currently seeking experienced Jet Vac / Tanker Drivers to join our team.

Job Description:

As a Jet Vac / Tanker Driver, you will be responsible for operating our jet vac units. Day to day work, will include working on commercial and construction sites, carrying out blockage clearance, pipe cleansing programmes and emergency reactive works. You will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and upkeep of your vehicle, carrying relevant DVSA vehicle checks, reporting defects and keeping accurate records of your driving hours. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in diverse and sometimes challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sewer Cleaning and Site works:
    • Undertake cleaning of pipes, manholes or gullies to S104 / S38 adoption standards.
    • Assisting CCTV unit to ensure projects are completed to the highest possible standard and on time.
    • Document findings, photographs and observations.
  • Equipment Operation:
    • Operate jet vac unit from control panel or remote.
    • Operate hand tools and small equipment for tasks such as lifting manhole covers, gully and other access points.
  • Material Handling:
    • Transport, handle, and load/unload vacuum hoses and tools to carry out tasks.
    • Follow proper procedures for the handling and disposal of construction materials.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
    • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and follow safety procedures during all tasks.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other team members, including engineers, and fellow operatives, to achieve project goals.
    • Communicate effectively and contribute positively to the overall team dynamic.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work performed, materials used, and any incidents or challenges encountered.
    • Prepare progress reports and documentation for project records.

 

Training, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Full HGV 2 driving license is essential.
  • Current WJA High Pressure Water Jetting ticket.
  • Confined Space, medium risk as a minimum.
  • SHEA Water or CSCS card.
  • Full CPC is desirable but training will be provided.
  • Experience carrying out pipe cleaning and jetting operations.
  • Experience using various industry recognised jet vac tankers, full training will be provided.
  • Experience carrying out CCTV Drainage Surveys, utilizing industry-recognized systems is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience carrying drain clearance and pipe preparation.

Our fast-paced local service centres are always growing and we are keen to hear from people wishing to get into the industry. There may a centre near you looking to expand their team. You don’t need to have any previous experience as full training is always provided.

Typical duties for our drainage engineers include the following (once trained if you have no previous experience):

  • Cleaning drains using high pressured water jets
  • Unblocking drains using specialist equipment
  • Carrying out CCTV drainage surveys of existing drainage systems
  • Repairing or replacing broken drainage systems including patching and excavation

Our requirements:

  • Flexible, positive can-do attitude
  • Full clean UK driving license
  • Ideally holds a HPWJ Certificate
  • Work minimum 5 days per week plus regular overtime available
  • DBS Disclosure Cert will be applied for on your behalf by DALROD
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Required to uphold the company’s high standards of customer service
  • A confident communicator with good attention to detail
