More Than Just a Callout
Recently, the DALROD Lincolnshire team was called out to resolve a drain blockage for an elderly tenant. On arrival, our engineer David quickly assessed the situation and carried out the necessary work to get everything flowing again, ensuring the issue was fully resolved.
While on site, David took the time to have a chat with the resident. During their conversation, she shared that she had recently lost her husband and that this would be her first Valentines Day without him.
The resident was over the moon with the work David completed and genuinely grateful for the time he spent talking with her. As an extra thank you, she kindly gave a £20 tip to show her appreciation.
A Small Gesture That Meant Everything
What David chose to do next truly reflects the values we stand for at DALROD and why we’re continuously proud of the people who represent us.
Instead of keeping the money, David took it upon himself to visit a local supermarket and use the £20 to purchase a bouquet of flowers for the resident. He then returned to her home in his own time to deliver the gift, hoping to bring a smile to her face and make her Valentines Day a little more special, despite the loss she recently experienced.
The resident was absolutely delighted and incredibly touched by the gesture. What started as a routine callout turned into a moment of genuine kindness that brought a smile to someone who needed it most.
