DALROD Leeds Completes Large-Scale Drainage Refurbishment at Major Retail Site

DALROD Leeds recently completed a major drainage repair project at a large retail site in Leeds. The site had been experiencing ongoing flooding issues and problems with repeat blockages, with no significant work carried out on the drainage system for over 30 years.

Initial Investigation

Work first began with a full CCTV drainage survey across the entire site. This allowed Leeds engineers to assess the condition of the pipework in detail. Defects, blockages, and heavy build-up of scale was identified throughout the system.

Following the survey, a quote was provided for full remedial works.

Patch Repairs Across the Site

Once approved, the DALROD Leeds team carried out extensive patch repairs across the site.

Engineers installed a combination of 500mm and 1 metre patch repairs to a number of defective pipe sections. These repairs restored the structural integrity of the drainage system.

All works were completed over several days and nights and planned around trading hours to avoid disruption to site operations.

Loading Bay Blockage and Pump Replacement

During the works, a significant blockage was identified within the loading bay area.

Standing water meant the issue could not be assessed immediately, so a pump was installed to remove the water and allow for inspection.

During this process, it became clear that existing pump had failed. Support was provided by DALPUMPS who attended site and replaced the faulty pump.

To ensure the area could be fully drained, a tanker unit was also brought to site to remove all remaining water, resulting in the blockage being cleared and safely removed.

A second pump is now scheduled for replacement in six months’ time. Following completion, DALROD Leeds had now been appointed for annual servicing visits.

Additional Drainage Improvements

As well as the pipe repairs, two manholes and two ACO drainage channels were replaced.

To further enhance and future-proof drainage on site, a Picote machine was used to remove years of scale and debris from the internal pipes.

Final Steps

Following completion, a full post-work CCTV survey was carried out.

This confirmed all repairs were successful and the system was fully operational.

This project demonstrates DALROD Leeds’ ability to deliver large-sale drainage repairs, all while keeping commercial sites running as normal.
