DALROD Supports Community Charity Project in Northwich

DALROD Merseyside & Chester recently supported a major community charity project in Northwich by providing specialist drainage services on a property featured as part of a popular television renovation show.

The Merseyside & Chester team was approached to attend a large-scale build at a Northwich-based charity that supports families affected by childhood cancers.

The project brought together tradespeople, suppliers, and volunteers from across the UK to help create enhanced facilities for the charity and families it serves. As part of the build DALROD was asked to carry out pressure testing on the site’s drainage infrastructure to ensure the newly installed system met the required standards.

Although filming for the programme had already concluded by the time drainage works were scheduled, the team was delighted to contribute to such a worthwhile cause and provide its specialist services free of charge in support of the project.

Ensuring Reliability

One of DALROD Merseyside & Chester’s most experienced engineers attended the site to carry out comprehensive drainage testing.

Prior to testing, debris discovered in one manhole was removed to ensure the system was ready for inspection. Using the drainage drawings for the surface water network surrounding the newly constructed building, a pressure test was undertaken on the drainage system.

This was tested and monitored for 20 minutes at each chamber, with a total of six manholes included in the process.

A 110mm packer was used to seal the system before it was filled with water to 350mm above the crown of the outfall. No loss was detected during the test, confirming the integrity of the drainage installation. Following completion of the testing process, the system was drained and all manhole fixings were securely reinstated.

Giving Back to Local Communities

At DALROD supporting local communities is an important part of our company values. The opportunity to contribute specialist drainage expertise to a project that will directly benefit children and families across the region Is something that the Merseyside & Chester team can be proud of.

While viewers of the television programme will see the finished transformation, many organisations worked behind the scenes to help bring the project together.

DALROD Merseyside & Chester was pleased to contribute to the success of the build by ensuring the site’s drainage infrastructure was fully tested and performing as intended.

DALROD would also like to recognise the volunteers, contractors, suppliers and businesses whose combined efforts helped create a lasting legacy for such an important local cause.
