DALROD LEEDS FIGHT THE FOUL FAT TRAPS

Restaurants in cities are busy places! They can do a lot of covers several times a day, which means cooking and serving customers food and beverages and this all has a lasting impact on their drains.

Although it’s not something that people think about very often, if you have a drainage or sewer emergency as a food production site or hospitality site, the chances are that you will have to close while the problem is fixed. This is something that no one wants!

Contaminated or foul water, grease fats and oils are all nasty substances and can cause big headaches for business owners if they get into places that they shouldn’t.

DALROD Leeds had to help out a restaurant in need in this very situation recently. A well-known and beloved restaurant, Franco’s, on the outskirts of Leeds experienced problems when their grease trap began overflowing in the kitchen.

Grease traps are designed to catch fats, oils and of course grease, but they need maintaining to ensure they are emptied regularly to prevent them from getting too full.

Why is it always at the weekend?

As with all unfortunate incidents, things always have a habit of occurring at the most inconvenient times. For restaurants, this is usually the weekend when trade is high and the business is at its busiest.

Typically this problem came to light at the weekend, so DALROD Leeds were called into action on a Sunday, they also needed the assistance of a local and trusted tanker company to help deal with the volumes of waste. Luckily, the relationship between the two is strong and the tanker company agreed to be on site along with Gary Price from DALROD Leeds within the hour.

Issues can occasionally be avoided….

One of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of drainage emergencies, is by having a regular maintenance programme in place. This is something that DALROD offer to our commercial clients, and it can be tailored to each individual business’s needs. Planned maintenance involves regular visits, checks and cleans to keep the health of your drains in tip top condition and reducing the possibility of troublesome emergencies.

Fortunately on this occasion, due to the speed of response from the team the restaurant was soon back and running with no loss to business and the customer was thrilled. He even threw in a complimentary meal as an extra thank you for the service!
