As DALROD celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what makes our company truly special: our family connections. Over the past four decades, we’ve grown into a trusted name in drainage solutions, and a significant part of our success story is the strong family bonds that run through our franchises across the UK.
A Family Affair
From father and son and mother and daughter teams to husband and wife duos, many of our franchises are family operated. This brings a unique blend of dedication and trust to the business.
These family connections create a supportive and collaborative work environment, where everyone is committed to the same goal: providing exceptional service to our customers.

Father and Son Teams
Across our service centres, you’ll find numerous father and son teams working side by side.
Mike Pollard, Director at our Cambridge franchise is now joined by his son, Josh, who is working as an engineer whilst learning other aspects of the business. Josh also produces some great (and squeamish at times!) content on TikTok which you can view here (if you’re brave enough!): Follow DALROD on TikTok
Other teams where children have joined their parents in their businesses include Luton, Manchester, Watford and Nottingham.

These dynamic duos share not only a family bond but also a passion for delivering top-notch drainage solutions. They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge, passed down through generations, ensuring that our customers receive the best service possible.

Husband and Wife Partnerships
In addition to these teams, our network boasts several husband and wife partnerships. These couples bring a balance of skills and perspectives to the business, complementing each other’s strengths and working together seamlessly.
DALROD was founded in 1985 by Walter Lane and his wife, Margaret. All these years later, that legacy still stands strong. In 1987, Walter’s Son, Dave, joined the company along with his wife, Jo. Each worked their way through various roles to eventually become directors.

Several of our other franchises are also headed up by husband and wife teams:

- Narthan and Moliena Moodley – Watford
- James and Mandy Kelly – Bath
- Anna and Chris Knight – Coventry
- Craig and Aimi Morley – Northampton
Craig and Aimi, DALROD Northampton - Allan and Kaye Zealey – Luton
- Lee and Lisa Hilton – Lincoln
DALROD Luton is another team where the whole family is involved – Allan and his wife Kaye on the operational side plus three sons, Robert, Matthew and Mark all working as engineers.

Our family team’s strong personal connection translates into a unified approach to solving drainage challenges and providing excellent customer care.
The connection stretches further than drainage, as our latest franchise DALPUMPS Pumping Solutions also have a family run team in Tom Stokes and his partner Gabby.
Relatives and Beyond

Our family connections extend beyond immediate family members, with cousins, siblings and other relatives joining forces to run successful franchises. This network of family operated teams creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere within the DALROD community, fostering a sense of belonging and support.
We hold a yearly company conference that brings together all our team members from across the network. These events are always well received and a great opportunity to get together and learn new
skills whilst reinforcing the family values we were founded on. Read about our most recent company conference here.
Recognising Every Team Member
While family connections provide a vital role at DALROD, we also have team members who aren’t necessarily related by blood but are considered family just the same. These dedicated individuals bring their own unique talents and dedication to the table, enriching our work environment and helping us to deliver outstanding service to our clients. Their hard work, commitment and passion are invaluable, and they are an integral part of the DALROD family.
A Legacy of Trust and Dedication
The family-oriented nature of our business has been a cornerstone of DALROD’s success over the past 40 years. This trust and dedication that comes from working with family members is reflected in the high quality of service we provide to our customers. It’s this unwavering commitment to excellence that has earned us the trust and loyalty of clients across the UK.
Looking to the Future
As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we’re proud of the strong family connections that have helped shape DALROD into the company it is today.
These bonds will continue to play a vital role in our future success, as we remain committed to providing outstanding drainage solutions with a personal touch.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to 40 years of family connections and many more to come!
